Interactive Technology For The Fans

Avery Dennison were thrilled to launch our partnership with Premier League, as their official supplier of names and numbers, at Asia Trophy Cup 2019.The 2019 Asia Trophy was the ninth edition of the event, with Manchester City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers competing for the Trophy. It was held in two cities for the first time, Nanjing and Shanghai.

For the event, Avery Dennison designed a new sleeve badge in partnership with celebrated Beijing based designer Zhijun Wang. The sleeve badge featured our proprietary technology, ‘Smart Embellishment’. This meant the badge could be scanned with a smartphone to unlock exclusive content. Visitors at the event scanning the badge were entered into a competition to win match day tickets.

In addition to the competition, we also designed and made soccer jerseys for the event that were available for customization at one of our booths. For VIPs attending, Avery Dennison created limited edition boxes containing a personalized jersey, a sequentially numbered woven Zhijun Wang sleeve badge and a hand painted bespoke Subbuteo figure.

Wolverhampton Wanderers won the 2019 Asia Trophy, beating Manchester City on penalties. As with previous editions, a full programme of football development initiatives were held as part of the Asia Trophy, including coach education, referee training and a youth tournament.
